I Believe Them

One of the issues gun owners face is whom to believe when politicians stake out policy positions on gun controls they would implement if they are elected to higher office. You and I both know politicians lie about such things, so we tend to dismiss the rantings of anti-gun campaigners and say, “It can’t happen here, 2nd Amendment, mumble mumble.” But when I see a politician campaigning to limit my gun rights, I believe them. Here are some recent statements of policy by several politicians that I absolutely, positively believe they would implement if given the power to do so:

Todd Woodard

Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke of Texas, Democrat candidate for president in 2020: “That’s why, as president, I would institute a mandatory buyback of every assault weapon in America.” (USA Today, August 22, 2019)

Senator (D-NJ) and Democrat presidential hopeful Cory Booker: “Beginning on Day One in office, I will take executive action to reduce gun violence — closing dangerous loopholes in gun sales, cracking down on gun manufacturers, and investing in communities impacted by gun violence.” (@CoryBooker tweet, August 31, 2019)

Joe Biden, Democrat presidential front-runner and former vice president, defending the effects of the 1994 crime bill: “I’m the only guy ever nationally to beat the NRA. Because when we did the crime bill — everybody talks about the bad things. Let me tell you about the good thing in the crime bill. It’s the one that had the assault weapons ban, a limited number of bullets in a clip. It made sure that cop-killer bullets, Teflon bullets, weren’t available any longer. It opened up the whole effort to make sure there is background checks for the first time in American history.” (Fox News, May 15, 2019)

Democrat presidential hopeful Kamala Harris, senator (D-CA) and former California attorney general and San Francisco district attorney: “I’m announcing for the first time today here with you to take executive action to ban the import of assault weapons into our country.” (Washington Examiner, May 15, 2019

There are many other examples from other politicians, but that’s all I can fit in this space this time. But I’ll keep you informed about the latest political statements on the Gun Tests Facebook page.

"Hell, yes, we're going to take your AR-15, your AK-47, and we're not going to allow it to be used against your fellow Americans anymore!" - Beto O'Rourke at the latest Democratic candidate debate. And don't think it will stop there if these folks have their way.

Gun Tests has been around for a few decades now, and I have subscribed since 1993(I think, I would have to access my binders) and have kept every issue. I find the back issues great for research, and reviews of different guns. Although Gun Tests is a periodical dedicated to testing guns, I have to support the fact that Todd has bravely started to report or offer opinions in politic. Why, because our rights are under attack, and this should concern EVERYBODY, not just the right, the left or the middle. We find Political Correctness run amok here as well as in other countries, and the media pander to it. As Americans, and especially as gun owners, we must get involve politically, failure to do so will assist in the collapse of not only our rights, but our Republic. Those who believe otherwise have their heads in the sand. My advice is to get active and get others active. Take a non-shooting friend out to the range and grow our sport. Get involved in local programs like 4H or other organizations that support the shooting sports. In my opinion, if we do not grow our sport, we will lose our rights. I have to agree with others that we must stop compromising on any firearms and shooting legislation. These are Rights that are being eroded!!

To James K and all others who think you can still own guns and ignore politics:

Sorry, but the world has changed A LOT. Just the act of owning a gun is now a political act, or a political position or statement. In fact, if you ask the parents of grade schoolers around the country, even pointing a finger like a gun now carries political meaning. Hiding from politics will not help you preserve your gun rights.

Todd, keep up the excellent work, both in testing and reviewing guns and all that go with them, and in reminding us to stay alert and active in the Second Amendment fight!

Complacency in the face of assault of our Rights is a foolish stance to take. Keep the warnings coming, as some folks don't watch / listen / read the News, or only get it from the Progressive News Organizations like CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, New York Times, etc., demonizing guns and all who own them. These are indeed dangerous times, and keep up the good work trying to keep us informed on the very important issue of our Second Amendment Rights under fire.

James K. If attention isn't drawn to the people who openly state they will take our guns then they have already won. One editorial page in a gun magazine does not a political outlet make. Lighten up!

What does this have to do with testing guns?
Have you now turned into another political outlet?
Not interested in your political views, just your honest evaluation of firearms.

Every politician and beaureucrat takes and oath to uphold and defend the constitution.

Those advocating against the second amendment and for socialism either lied or they are diliberate enemy traitors that should be tried for treason and if convicted, hung.

Advocating to destroy the constitution is TREASON. It is long past time that the president directed his attorney general to prosecute traitors. It is long past time that federal, funds were withheld from states denying civil rights under color of authority.

Stop compromising.
